Dear Wrapping Presence Friends,
As the leaves start to fall and the air turns cooler, I’ve come to a decision that was honestly one of the hardest I’ve had to make. After last year’s season ended, I was excited for the next one, hoping to bring back the luncheon, crafting and of course fundraisers, but as life took over, I realized more and more I just could not run Wrapping Presence with the dedication it deserves. After a lot of thought, conversations and prayer, I have decided to bring the journey of Wrapping Presence to an end. Please know that I have spoken to Marne and while she is very disappointed, she is also proud of the fact that Wrapping Presence ran for over 30 years and gave so many people dignity while living in nursing homes. Marne was able to build unbelievable relationships and bonds with residents, volunteers and nursing home staff alike. Cheryl did a wonderful job continuing with that legacy for the four years she was at the helm of Wrapping Presence. Throughout my two years I found myself in awe many times of the dedication of Activities Directors and staff to their residents, volunteers that have returned to nursing homes year and year, and the family-like relationships between residents that make each day brighter. It has been a privilege to get a glimpse into this world.
Please know that we intend to take an inventory of all of the donated items and do our best to get them into the hands of those who need it the most. Nothing will go to waste. At this time, we are no longer accepting donations and the box has been removed from the lobby of Andrews Hall.
There are no words to express how grateful I am for the many hours and in many cases, years so many of you have committed to Wrapping Presence. Marne created a magnificent thing and carried us all along for the ride, and it was a really beautiful ride!
All the very best to you all,
Candi Young
